I often work with watercolors, gouache, acrylic, and digital programs. I’m inspired by mythmaking, ephemera, mental health, storytelling, nature, spirituality, and anything that brings me joy. My art is meant to fulfill me and act as catharsis, and I hope it can fulfill that purpose for others like me. I hope my art can speak to anyone who wants to be spoken to, and that it can provide comfort to those who are worried there’s no one else like them out there.
My history as an artist is pretty convoluted. I was raised painting and drawing by my mother, Linnea Tobias who is an incredible artist. I focused my work on portraiture in traditional mediums moving from graphite to colored pencil, acrylic to oil paint, etc. My current interest is in watercolors as well as pigments and digital art.
One of my biggest hurdles as an artist was finding inspiration that really resonated with me. I’ve found that my interest in spirituality and old traditions have thrown me into many internet deep dives and ridiculously heavy library hauls and whether i like it or not, the themes i’ve found sneak themselves into my paintings. I’m now trying to embrace that focus with a new series of watercolor paintings- the goddess series. You can browse the works in this series and the meanings behind each piece on my portfolio page.
About the Artist
Ultimately, my practice is an avenue for me to comfort myself and work through my problems. as well as manifesting new bright outlooks. My goddess series in particular provides me confidence in my femininity and a connection to the beauty in womanhood as I enter the new era of my life.
My commissions are always open, and I hope I can help you with my work as well.
