I made this piece to experiment with watercolor and gouache, and to test out a goddess theme. Clearly, this theme stuck and is my current focus in my personal work. I wanted to highlight the concept that the goddess can appear in so many ways to different people- as a young white woman or an elderly black woman, able bodied or disabled, emotional or reckless. I hope to extend this series far and wide as there are so many beautiful women I want to paint in this context.
