About the Artist
I often work with watercolors, gouache, acrylic, and digital programs. I’m inspired by mythmaking, ephemera, mental health, storytelling, nature, spirituality, and anything that brings me joy. My art is meant to fulfill me and act as catharsis, and I hope it can fulfill that purpose for others like me. I hope my art can speak to anyone who wants to be spoken to, and that it can provide comfort to those who are worried there’s no one else like them out there.

Freshwater Mother

After beginning my Goddess series with the Ocean Maiden piece, I was instantly inspired to continue the water theme, while changing the age of my subject. I was inspired by the image of my mother for my first mother goddess, and I loved this process. I was able to experiment with more shining watercolors and lighting.

Adventure Maiden

I’m now entering a stage in my life in which I’m struggling with losing aspects of my childhood. This year, I lost one of my childhood dogs and as I worked through this painting, I found that painting her in a spiritual form was cathartic. The spirit of adventure to me is my beautiful dog, Lola, with her bright blue eyes and mischief.

Ocean Maiden

I made this piece to experiment with watercolor and gouache, and to test out a goddess theme. Clearly, this theme stuck and is my current focus in my personal work. I wanted to highlight the concept that the goddess can appear in so many ways to different people- as a young white woman or an elderly black woman, able bodied or disabled, emotional or reckless. I hope to extend this series far and wide as there are so many beautiful women I want to paint in this context.
